Recently my sister and brother-in-law, Zach and Jill, had an experience, and it’s too good not to tell. Zach is in medical school right now and he only had a week off before he needed to go back. They decided to come out to Utah to spend some time with his grandparents he hasn’t seen in years, and then they would come up to spend some time with us in the Utah Valley. Zach really wanted to take his two boys, Talmage (3) and Hunter (2), camping while they were down in Beaver visiting the grandparents. This was a boys only camping trip, and it turned out Jill was really glad she didn’t go.
All three boys headed out about
Zach got the boys ready for bed and then after some s’mores they called it a night….well not exactly. About
Talmage: “Dad, my foot hurts”
Zach: “Ok Talmage, I’ll rub it, it’s ok.”
Hunter: “Dad it’s DARK.”
About ten minutes later Talmage said, “Dad, my stomach hurts.” After he said that Talmage threw up all over the tent. The smell was too much to stay in the tent so Zach changed all of them, was trying to clean up the tent, Hunter was crying because it was dark and he was afraid of the monsters, and it was probably now only 3:00 in the morning. So Zach decides to take the boys on a little car ride to hopefully see some wild life. Once they get in the car Zach realizes they’re about on empty so they couldn’t go very far. As they were driving they saw a deer in the woods so they stopped to watch it. As soon as they stopped Talmage threw up again in the seat.
They decided to go back to the camp site, light a fire, and wait for the sun to come up so they can pack up and leave. While they’re sitting by the fire, Hunter decides to throw his shoe in the fire. Zach being so manly reaches his hand in the fire and pulls out the shoe. It’s melted alright, but at least he saved some of the shoe and has some blisters on his hand to show it.
Even after all of this Zach said he wants to take the boys back again for another manly camping trip. With boys this cute, it doesn’t matter what they do, right Jill?
