Parents are the best

My mom was in town last weekend and it's always fun with her. She spent most of her time helping/staying with my grandma, but we got to sneak in a couple of days with her. True to her nature, whenever she comes she spends all her time helping people.

This past trip reminded me again why I am so lucky to have my parents. Even though my dad couldn't come out he made sure that my mom took us grocery shopping. My mom helped me do some projects that I really needed done. No matter what stage of life I am at, my parents have always been at my side helping me. I remember my mom waking up at 4:30 every morning before seminary to make me breakfast. I'm talking eggs and bacon type of breakfast. I was lucky enough to have my dad at the hospital to give me much needed words of encouragement and strength right before Liam came. They always seem to have the right answers and when they don't they know just how to comfort me.

Each day I try to be the type of parent to Liam that my parents are to me. I won't get close but I'm grateful that they're here cheering me on every step of the way.

9 months

A week and a half ago, Liam turned 9 months. That means that he's been out of me for as long as he was in me (because of the minor detail that you're really pregnant for 10 months.) It's gone a lot faster on this side of things. He's my little buddy and I'm so lucky to have him. We love to make each other laugh each day. He loves wrestling, spitting (especially when he's eating) and tickles. The other day Matt was sitting on the couch and Liam had his back to him. I asked him where daddy was and he looked at Matt. When Matt asked him where mommy was he just shook his head. He sure loves his daddy.

My how things have changed...
We converted his diaper box into a car and the kid can't get enough.
And 9 months has brought 2 milestones. A tooth and a boy who is SO close to crawling!
9 months has been overwhelmingly wonderful, challenging, and joyful and I can't wait to find out what the rest of life with this little boy is going to be like.
