kickin it old school

You better believe that we kicked it old school last night and saw these boys (or should I say men?) Matt was really hesitant about going to the concert, but I convinced him that this would be money well spent and it was! Not only did they sing all their classics, but they also had every move choreographed, they were wearing matching suits, and gave out roses to some of the girls in the audience. Sorry that there are no pictures from this post or the last. We've lost our camera cord and are waiting for another one to come. All in all it was a great night full of dancing, singing, and reminiscing on the younger days.

One Year...

This Sunday marks one year of an incredible year together! I have loved being married to Matt and sharing these past year's experiences. He has been a wonderful husband and is always making me laugh. One of my favorite moments with Matt was after our Easter Egg Hunt. I put in little notes in some of the eggs. One of the notes said, "Surprise, I'm pregnant!" I do this to him all the time so this wasn't a shock to him. Matt told our neighbor about my prank note and I said that I would have to be about 5 months pregnant before Matt would believe me. Matt then said, "Yeah, she'll totally have to show me her mammogram before I believer her." We quickly corrected that it would have to be an ultrasound not a mammogram. To celebrate our anniversary we are headed off for a full weekend of pampering at the Stein Erickson Lodge up in Deer Valley. It's a surprise to Matt of what we're doing, so we'll post on Monday when we get back. Have a wonderful weekend!

Boys Night Out

Recently my sister and brother-in-law, Zach and Jill, had an experience, and it’s too good not to tell. Zach is in medical school right now and he only had a week off before he needed to go back. They decided to come out to Utah to spend some time with his grandparents he hasn’t seen in years, and then they would come up to spend some time with us in the Utah Valley. Zach really wanted to take his two boys, Talmage (3) and Hunter (2), camping while they were down in Beaver visiting the grandparents. This was a boys only camping trip, and it turned out Jill was really glad she didn’t go.
All three boys headed out about 5:00 pm to camp in the mountains. As they were pitching their tents a long black snake slithered by, an omen of things to come of the trip. Zach wanted to teach the boys how to fish so they headed down to the lake. In about five minutes one of the poles was thrown into the water, the other’s line was completely out and then broken in half, and Hunter’s shoe was thrown out into the lake. Zach decided to maybe try fishing later so they went up and had some dinner at their camp site. It was starting to get dark, but Zach wanted to try fishing one more time so they headed back down. In about 20 minutes of sunshine they had left, they miraculously managed to catch 3 fish with the one mangled pole they had left.
Zach got the boys ready for bed and then after some s’mores they called it a night….well not exactly. About 2:00 Talmage and Hunter woke up.

Talmage: “Dad, my foot hurts”
Zach: “Ok Talmage, I’ll rub it, it’s ok.”
Hunter: “Dad it’s DARK.”

About ten minutes later Talmage said, “Dad, my stomach hurts.” After he said that Talmage threw up all over the tent. The smell was too much to stay in the tent so Zach changed all of them, was trying to clean up the tent, Hunter was crying because it was dark and he was afraid of the monsters, and it was probably now only 3:00 in the morning. So Zach decides to take the boys on a little car ride to hopefully see some wild life. Once they get in the car Zach realizes they’re about on empty so they couldn’t go very far. As they were driving they saw a deer in the woods so they stopped to watch it. As soon as they stopped Talmage threw up again in the seat.
They decided to go back to the camp site, light a fire, and wait for the sun to come up so they can pack up and leave. While they’re sitting by the fire, Hunter decides to throw his shoe in the fire. Zach being so manly reaches his hand in the fire and pulls out the shoe. It’s melted alright, but at least he saved some of the shoe and has some blisters on his hand to show it.
Even after all of this Zach said he wants to take the boys back again for another manly camping trip. With boys this cute, it doesn’t matter what they do, right Jill?
